Sorry, I was in a hurry and the second link is for Pfaff and not Singer. The correct link for Singer serial numbers is https://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_mac...l-numbers.html I think there are two numbers on the very early machines, but I can't remember which of the two numbers one is supposed to use when using the serial number list.

According to https://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_mac...sses-1-99.html there were some #2 made up until 1905. However, the 1905 catalog that can be found on the Smithsonian site starts with Number 3 https://www.sil.si.edu/DigitalCollec...ges/image8.htm

Unfortunately the links on this page - http://www.needlebar.org/main/industrial/index.html are dead links, but not very many made.
