My suggestion is:
Take a piece of paper and draw your block on it.
Then cut it in half and draw the seam lines in.
Notice how that messes up the block.
Then cut that piece in half for a QST shape , draw the seam ines in, and see what happens to your block.
My recommendation: do not cut up your pieced blocks.
