an absolutely gorgeous quilt that's very easy to make; I don't know if it has a name
Use only Batiks
Cut lots of 5" squares and make a 9-patch. Most friends use a constant in each 9-patch block; I don't bother.
Cut in half horizontally and vertically, and resew after rearranging.
I usually make four 9-patch blocks, cut them and then mix them up before resewing.
Do not use anything larger than 5" squares, it doesn't look good when larger.
When assembling the top, sash with a batik that reads like a solid. Up to you what size it will be; I cut 2 1/2" sewing to a 2" sash. You can add a 5" border (cut 5 1/2") to make it larger if you like.
I'd be happy to e-mail you a picture [email protected].
Good luck.
We're in the process of doing one for a library raffle in reproduction fabrics. Very beautiful, but not as gorgeous.
