Go to quilter's cache and look at the braid quilt pattern.
The difference is that as you piece, rather than overlapping the two pieces, you put a square at the end and the attach the next piece. There is a book of French Braid quilts available... but this seems pretty easy to figure out.... You might want the book/pattern if you don't want to figure out yardages, etc.
