these are great blocks, I love the night and day one.

During one conversation she typed that it would be wonderful if we could come see it .... My hubby & I had already talked about going there (1350 miles 1 way ) and surprise her ... but we had to figure out the logistics of it with her parents. Kids these days are so busy it was hard to get to talk with the adults without being on speaker phone to hear the grands also.

Finally we got to say we were coming & verified the timing would work out. We went from flying (argh .. all the restrictions made it a nightmare), to driving our Explorer ( ugh, hate getting hotels, etc) soooo after much (and I do mean much) back and forth, we are taking our Class C RV and driving. We'll leave Tuesday morning and our live in granddaughter will be in charge of the Possum Trot homestead.

With packing & getting the RV ready to roll (plus having to clean off the table for a Mother's Day Grill out that ended up at our house, lol), I haven't gotten to sew the last couple days. Looks like I will be out and about for about 10 days ... I will try to post from the road.

Dang, with all that, I forgot why I started this ... dang train ran off the track again and got side tracked ... Our granddaughter did my nails for the play and I think she did an amazing job. Being the onery Nana I am, I sent a photo to our Mad Hatter and said we did them in support of her role in the play. She was thrilled to see them and said thanks so much ... I hope she is just as thrilled when she gets home from school and sees our RV in their driveway.
. Your GD will be over the moon with the surprise, have a safe trip. Those nails are so cute, such talent.

Barbara Brackman's "Civil War Sampler, 50 Quilt Blocks with Stories from History", was at my local quilt shop this week. It's a wonderful book, well researched, with stories from diaries, journals, newspapers, etc., Ms. Brackman is pretty famous for her work as a quilt historian. Many of the patterns in this book were reprinted in the 1920s and 30s and have been known by several names. What I know as Churn Dash she names Lincoln's Platform, with a story from Lincoln's inauguration. The second block is called Comfort Quilt and she references Dorothea Dix and her work in Civil War hospitals. I hope you like them.
. Great blocks, I love books that give a history of blocks and quilts.

Janice and Sewbiz I had turnip greens served with vinegar. Oh my they were delicious! It’s definitely something you can’t get around here, will have to sit down and go through some recipes.

Hubby found this print at one of the quilt shops, My granddaughter has chosen Winnie the Pool for her nursery and she has so many books collected already for the little one. We knew she would love it. What ever pattern I decide on it will be something quick, to be truthful Pooh and I have seen to much of each other lately.

Had planned on sewing tomorrow it’s supposed to be rain and wind tomorrow but hubby still wants to go to the lake. If weather is tooo bad it will be a good excuse to head home and sew

On the ride home I was reading about early quilt blocks and trying to unify them to one name instead of every region having a different name. Very interesting
. Turnip greens are so good, especially if it is cooked with a good piece of ham. I love eating them with a good bowl of black eyed peas. I also love the Pooh fabric
