well, we went for a drive today and happened upon a garage sale - and tucked up against the wall was a set of irons!!! - with the metal Pitman rod!!
DH has already started the restoration but even before he did anything he could 'pedal' it with one finger!
No top but the original screws were dropped in the holes from above so they are still with the irons! One wheel is missing tho. I'm thinking maybe the 99 for this? or maybe one of the zigzag machines - I don't have anything like that set up - the only working treadles I have right now are a back-clamping 66 and the Pfaff.
We have another set of irons but it has a broken wood Pitman rod - we do have the instructions on how to make a replacement.
Oh yea, this set today was a whopping ten dollars.....

The badge says American, from what I have read the machines made in Japan after the war were often give more america names to make the more accepted.

Somewhere in the neighborhood of 1953 give or take a year or two.

Ohhh I love that pattern and one of these days I will get a machine with it on it!!

You have a early model 15 allotted on April 23, 1925 with 35,000 of them made during that run. The decal pattern is the "Gingerbread Tiffany" which is one of my faves!!!!

This thread is so much fun! I just love seeing everyone else's machines! The old ones hold a special appeal for me....much more interesting than the newer ones I think.

wow, thanks. Didn't realize it was that old- it is a great little workhorse and my main machine!Needs a good cleaning (that I will do myself after all the good advice you have posted) but still runs like a charm.

This is fun...love to see all these pics of the older machines and appreciate your expertise....
