You just inspired me to do a nice summer weight quilt for our bed! I have a duvet covering a down comforter - and we live in Florida!! Maybe it's not hot flashes after all???...

We have a down blanket on our bed with a quilt over it that our daughter in law made for us. Question?????? I have had it on our bed for nigh onto 6 years now, use it every single day - throw it in the washer. It is falling apart. I made a new quilt top and thought I could use the old one as the batting for the new one with a new batting also. Found out it doesn't work. So when I am finished binding the new one , I will wash the old one, pack it away with a note saying that this was the quilt my daughter in law made and it kept my husband nice and warm when he got home from going through chemo. And then I am going to make another quilt - a sampler - the husband likes the samplers - and so I will have one on the bed, one in the wash. And I am also going to make "drool covers" (actually they are already made - I just have to sew them on the new quilt (by hand)), so I will have less quilt washing to do - just do the "drool covers"! But I do use a quilt on the bed, over the down blanket. Here is another question - do you tuck a quilt or just let it lay over the bed? Ours just lays over the bed.

That's it for our quilt! Edie

Store bought - several years ago... I even have it upside down - I have never liked it - used it for other things first. We have looked at fabrics and have chosen colors for our quilt, but... alas and alack.

I am making me a California King as we speak. I started making it to sell but got tired of looking at the blanket we have on our brand new bed because I had not bought or made one for us. Liked the colors so am making it. It is not the one I eventually want to make for it but I like it. So slowly but surely I will finish it.

I have a king size bed with a store bought quilt and then a smaller quilt on top that I made. I Made a king size one and my son-in-law requested it so how could I tell him it was for me. I mean really, how often does your son-in-law like your work so much that he would make a requst like that. I am planning another for my bed and hope to get it there this time to replace the smaller one. The pictures are of the smaller quilt are on a queen bed just to take the pictures. It now sits on top of my king bed. The picture of the large egg money quilt with the scalloped edged is the king quilt that I gave to my son-in-law.

Mine is a quilt bought at a craft fair, someone else made it. One day I will have my own.

OK, I'm guilty but with good reason. I bought a nuteral (sp) beige quilt. Since most of the quilts I have made are smaller than queen, I place them on an angle on top to show them off

I have a store bought quilt on my bed, becasue I let the pets (2 dogs and 2 cats) up on the bed, and don't want my hard work shredded with pet claws! I do have lots of quilts that I use to cover up with in the living room, or the back porch.
