Had an example just this week...my dentist's (woman) daughters are in a wedding today. One dress arrived months ago, other one just came in. Dentist called me, asking if I would be on "standby" to shorten the dress if it arrived. Said yes I was willing. Dress arrived, I shortened the satin outer skirt, the netting underskirt and the lining. And pressed everything. When I delivered it (my choice), the dad asked "how much do we owe you?" I told him $25. which he felt was very reasonable. Guess I should have asked more, as no discounts are given in the dentist's chair! Why do we do this to ourselves?
Have you ever been to a David's Bridal? You would be shocked, oh and did I mention you have to wait 6 weeks for the alterations?

That is wonderful. You should give that lady a big hug, she understands.

Then her granddaughter decided she wanted a backpack like purse for school - just delivered it to her this morning. They'd gone out and purchsed the fabric, I had the pattern and it took me about one and a half weeks to get the finished project to her - just this morning. I had agreed to take $35 for the bag (keep in mind THEY purchased the fabric). When she received the bag she came to me with the money and said she did not agree on my price - I nearly fell off my seat - I thought I'd be taking less... She simply said, "You are barely making minimum wage at that price. One look at that bag and others are going ot want one. (the sister has already asked for one!)." She said, "You are selling yourself short, you have great talent and I'm giving you a bit more money." And she handed me the money. We were just beginning church so I couldn't really look - but after - she'd handed me $50!!!! I was so pleased... this means she is willing to pay $70 for the bag!!! We had to celebrate so after church we took the boys to get subs for lunch - something they've wanted for a couple of months now - the extra money went towards the subs!! :) Word of mouth and I'm getting more and more projects to do - I love it!!!
That is great. You must do very good work. Congratulations! I make quilts and purses. I have several and people have asked to buy my purse so I started selling them. Isn't it fun to make money doing something you love and helps you keep your sanity. lol I have a day care and little ones all day. I need that quiet time in my sewing room to relax.

Sounds like you're having fun and making friends and maybe in a few years we'll see your items on the national scene. Good for you. Good things come to good people.

Good for you!!! That's my problem on any of my crafts. I'm afraid to set a price on anything.
