    I use 3/4 inch sequin pins. Anything longer than that seems to be overkill. They are long enough to attach easily. I also make mine on a 2 1/2 inch ball. Just my preference. I also keep my pins in a magnetized dish in case it gets bumped.

    I also make these and use a smaller pin to lessen the weight of the ornament. When I was taught this at a class, they told us to do 5 rows on each side (overkill). Once I started doing this on my own, I make mine with 4 rows on each side. I also use one less pin for each square one I'm past the 1st row (one end will always over lap another and that is where I short it a pin...I think this also lessens the weight). I sell these at a local craft fair in the fall.

    I was making these many years ago to and I did 4 on a side.
    I did mini x st things and then put the folded fabs around those...
