    Hi all,
I heard recently that they were only putting the fabric
in the"from the ground up stores", so I took this to mean
only the new stores they were building now. Not bringing back
the fabric to stores they had taken it out off. I so hope I
misunderstood. I live in New Iberia, La we lost our Hancock's
and our Wal Mart fabric. We now have a fabric store just starting good, but was without for a while. And we have quite a few quilters, just don't understand the idea of shutting
down when people need fabric.(can never get enough) LOL

Sure hope that is the truth. We still have our fabric department but they are always running out of the things I need. Our Quilt shop here (only one) is way expensive 9-14 a yard. But she has 50% off twice a year. I hit those. She just had a 40% off and I got 5 yards of Christmas fabric;)

Our store was remodeled and they took the fabric department out completely. I am not happy.

I so hope this is true, as we have very little choice in our small town.
I certainly hope so too. I was in our Wal-Mart store yesterday, and they had bolts upon bolts of fabric in bins in and around the fabric dept. :thumb up:

They just remodeled a store here and there is no fabric to speak of.... just "packets"... like squares, fat quarters, etc..... there is another store not far from me that does have solid fabric hanging on the wall in 2 yard package..... nothing else really.... sure does look good on the wall with all the colors hanging there....

If we want it back we have to voice it.... one of the reasons I think they got rid of it was because it move fast enough.... they don't rotate it fast.... same fabric for years..... and they really don't know how to run a fabric dept.....

I wish our Wal-Mart would bring fabric back. I made a lot of quilt tops for our church ladies to tie for missions. I can't afford to do that with $9 a yard fabric. And I hear fabric prices are going up again.

Have you looked at Connecting Threads lately. They now have solids in darks, brights and muted colors! Also beautiful batiks at less than $6 a yard! I haven't ordered much from them lately as they mostly had country prints or 30's prints, but just sent off a good sized order last weekend. Haven't received it yet. But when I did order before, their fabric was very nice.
