Help from a non quilter
#12
Hancock Fabrics has a really nice assortment of sewing boxes and sewing "totes" that have rollers on them. Another great option if she has to move her "equipment" a lot.
I'd suggest the quilting scissors over the dressmaker ones.
If you are on a spending roll, a gift card to a fabric store would also be an awesome gift. We NEVER have too much fabric, and I, for one, get the "guilts" when I buy fabric that I haven't planned the "need" for yet.
You are a great man, Walt.

First, I just want to say that is so sweet of you and she'll be so thankful for new scissors. I personally don't use scissors that often. most of the time I use my rotary cutter and mat. I do have Fiskars scissors that I love that are spring loaded and they cut through plenty of layers very precisely. I also have just a pair of cheap scissors to snip threads.

I bought my daughter and daughter in law Ginghers and they had a larger scissors and a small scissors in the box. I got them at Joann Fabrics and used the 40% off coupon that is in the flyer. They have lots of flyers and are usually very helpful at selecting things. I received my Ginghers 20 years ago for a gift and still love them. Sewing basket can be found at almost any fabric store. Happy shopping.

I have lots of 'stuff' for my quilting. So....my hubby got me a big fishing tackle box, with all the smaller boxes and dividers. Great for keeping things where they belong, and easy to take to retreats. And I'm sure the bonus was that if I got tired of it, he'd take it. Hasn't happened yet!

Thats a great idea.
Fishing tackle boxes come in all sizes and shapes.
I'm going to take a look in a large hunting and fishing store
in our area. Ray's Sport shop. Better yet I'll wait and let her choose one when she returns.
Thanks for that idea also.

Hubby took me to Sportsman's Warehouse, and said, "find what you want". It kept me busy while he did his normal thing there, and he takes longer to shop than I do! We now have a Cabela's close by, so I'm sure he'll find some other use for me for something designed for hunting or fishing.

I use Fiskars, the ones with the spring in it. They help me tremendously, cutting with a regular pair of scissors I can only cut about 5 minutes before my wrist starts bothering me. So I have several of the Fiskars and occasionally get them sharpened. Unfortunately, Fiskars redesigned them and I don't like the "new, improved" style.
