I have four things I'm constantly reaching for:

    1) The Ginghers scissors I inherited from my Granny. They're so sharp I bet they could cut thread in half length-wise! he he
    2) Pincushion / pins
    3) My 6-1/2" square template that I've used so much that I wore the lines off! LOL! I re-drew them with a Sharpie.
    4) Rotary cutter

I love my little extra pair of cross-stitch scissors. Best seam ripper ever and good to snip threads also.

I have a needle-nose pliers that I use for catching thread on the machine. Works like a charm. Never thought of a long tweezers - Ijust grabbed for what I found in the house - Now it is MINE - ALL MINE! Edie

I have a small scissor that lives in a leather sheaf that velcro's on to my machine.as soon as I'm done using I slide it back in and that way I dont loose it.

I too use an old iron (with the cord cut off) to hold down my ruler while cutting fabric.

OK, don't laugh, but my favorite tool in my sewing room is my TV & DVR satellite box. I MUST have noise and something to occupy my brain while I sew/quilt and this does the trick. My DH will tell you, when I didn't have the TV in the room yet, I wouldn't stay in there for 30 minutes before getting up, now that the TV is in there I only came out for breaks on Saturday a few times and was in there sewing/quilting for more than 10 hours!!

I agree completely. I feel naked without my wrist pin cushion. It is so handy.

My handiest tool isn't beside my machine but on the arm of my chair. I have this thing (don't know what to call it) but it has pockets on each end with a pin cushion in the center. It is pinned on the chair arm. I keep my spool of thread in it, along with my thimble and scissors. When I'm quilting and run upon a pin, I take it out and poke it in the cushion on top. GREAT!! I found mine at a yard sale for a quarter. My friend came over an traced a pattern off and made her one. They are neat!

My favourite tool is a flat mini-brush that came with an electric razor, I use it daily to keep my bobbin case lint free,I keep good care because I can't replace it,
