When the article first appeared in the Wall Street Journal about the cost of cotton going up, I invested in two king-size cotton bats. Retirement fund?

When I first started to quilt seriously I bought bolts of clearance fabric from good lines of manufacturers. I have enough to last 2 life times.

A retired Schell oil executive said gas will be $5 dollars a gallon by 2012. My husband said there will be blood in the streets if it goes that way. Now can you imagine pmsing woman not being able to get their fix of fabric?

Absolutely! I've been quilting long enough to remember when we though $3.99 a yard was a lot of money. I think of quilting as a whole lot cheaper than therapy.

I'll just cut back on food- I need to diet also, and I'm not going to give up my quilting. My small stash will also be used more now.

well, I will quilt as long as I can but I may have to get creative with batting and backing. I love to quilt but I think my DH would be unhappy if we had to give up food. I wouldn't be able to resist those big sad eyes. The quilting would have to go.
