Some of the sites for the mags. have intros. to the current issues that you can look at. Just photos, etc. but it's good info.

The two quilt magazines that I can't do without are Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting and Better Homes and Gardens American Patchwork & Quilting. Both mags show how the quilts were quilted, have wonderful instructions and I've actually made quilts from these magazines. I also like the Quiltmaker and it's sister mag Quilter's Newsletter, but I only subscribe to the first two I mentioned. I check out all the other quilt mags at the news stand and if there is something that interests me, I'll buy it.

I have been wondering the same thing for the last year. I had not been subcribing but just picking up a copy of different magazines. I'm a relatively new quilter and when I looked through my stash of magazines discovered that the one I bought and used most was "Quilt." So I just sent in a subscription-the cost was $9.99 for a year (6 issues). I like that many of their patterns are quick and relatively easy.

I like the Better Homes and Gardens Quilting Magazine as it has my kind of quilts. I tried McCalls, but they were just too modern for my taste.

If you were to subscribe to just one quilting magazine, which one would you choose?

    and why?

    thanks

Everyone has a preference I think; mine is McCall's Quilting. Once in awhile I will pick up Fons & Porter if I "Like" the cover photo. :) Yesterday I picked up "Fabric Trends" which is chock full of gorgeous ideas and new fabrics' photos. $6 but worth it to hunker down with here today in the snowy NC mountains and get big ideas.

Several years ago I started subscriptions to several different quilt magazines, because I didn't really know what I wanted. After these several years, I now only get Quiltmaker and Quilter's Newsletter Magazine. Quiltmaker is my favorite - workable patterns for those of us who are still working on our skills, and patterns are all there, plus online. Just my thoughts...

Go to your local half price books, they should have a bunch of quilt magazines for probably 50 cents each. BUy a variety and check them out, best way to tell which you like.

Really, there's only 6? Hmmm, seems like more the way I keep buying them :)
