I always stand when I cut, and I am very tall. I haven't found a comfortable height table to cut at yet, I use the kitchen counter and cut just a little at a time. I find if I change tasks frequently, my back doesn't hurt so much when I'm done.

Bed risers work great! At a local store named Ollies they have a table that folds up and is able to be adjusted to many different heights. Perhaps you could find something similiar in your area

I bought a folding table at walmart and put the bed risers under
it is a perfect table and height. So for under $50. you can have
a good cutting area and no back pain.

I am very new too but I found putting the cutting mat on top of a closed washing machine was perfect for cutting (plus the ironing board is right there too :D

ialso liked my ironing board, I usually use my dining table (I'm only 5'1) but remembered I cut out quite a lot of things right after Thanksgiving and used my ironing board, it was wonderful!

Just get that sucker up as high as you can, any way you can, to keep from bending much. I have a similar problem and it definitely hinders me.

I use my counter tops since they are waist high on me.

I have an old Drafter's table...just the right height..Also have a drop leaf craft table that Joann's sells for cutting and you can buy the large cutting mat that goes with it...again just the right cutting height...Use a coupon or wait for it to go on sale.
