Wow, I was lucky cause I got this very same machine, case and all for $2.00 at a garage sale. Well, actually my daughter found it. Dickered the gal down from $5.00 cause neither of them knew what it was. She just knew I love old sewing machines.

The National Sewing Machine Company was formed in 1890 by the consolidation of the Eldredge and June Companies. This machine was made later than that, and is a National.

BZ quilting, you have a Model 15 with a birth date of June 2, 1910.

Is it a treadle or a Hand crank. If it is a HC it is a 15-89, if a treadle 15-88. Or was there a motor added?

That is my favorite machine.

Clara, I am also curious about your machine. It is very pretty, but I don't think it is really old. It looks like a Model 15 clone. What is puzzling to me is that there were no sewing machine manufacturer's - at least not major ones - in Taiwan until I think the 1950's or 1960's? I could be wrong on that one, that is why I am asking Billy for his opinion. Japan, I think, was ahead of Taiwan in that Japan started manufacturing sewing machines for domestic use in 1928 under the Brother label. Takai started making domestic machines in 1949, so I'd guess your machine to be newer than 1949 - but again, we need to ask Billy. I don't know?

I am just as curious as you are. Is the machine all cast iron with metal gears? Belt driven? Is there plastic anywhere on the machine?

I'd bet Billy knows the answer to about how old your machine is.

After seeing Penni's post on her pretty machine, I decided to share what I recently learned on some badge machines.
So, I posted this a couple days ago when I saw it come up on CLs.

Since I was curious as to who made this badge machine( Majestic), I notified the poster asking for a better close up photo of the machine and cabinet. The poster was very helpful and quickly sent these photos. After seeing the photos, I fell in love with the cabinet. ( I really need a basement since I do not have room for another gorgeous cabinet like this one.) Then I started to think maybe this is a National. If so, I could l put my National Two Spools in this cabinet, and I would sell the Singer straight leg cabinet that my Two Spools is presently occupying ( Dh modified that cabinet for me, but I could redo that). I notified the owner again asking for the distance of the pins and opening, only to find out that this cabinet would not work. Well, I had fun discovering that National made a machine called the Vindex . This one in the photo is identical to the Vindex 2nd Version. There are a couple of badge machines that look like this that go by the name of Harris B and Flower City.
