However since it has been on the brink twice now she decided it just isn't suited for all the piecing and quilting I do.. She said I really need that old workhorse. Hopefully we can go to her friends in the next couple of days so I can test drive hers.. my mom is just so excited i have a hobby realated to the one she loves. She said i need the proper machine and she knows i am short on cash. She is doing yet another generous thing for me.

Too bad you don't already have a good working machine, with Mother's Day coming up you could make her a special Mother's Day quilt or wall hanging. I wish my Mother were still liveing, because I would already have made her more than one special quilts. However, she passed away over 20 yrs. ago and I wasn't really into quilting that much when she was living. Too busy working and getting two ready for college. I miss her so much even today. We were such close friends as well.

To have a mom willing to help you out with a new machine or a granddaughter who wants to know which machine will be hers someday is such a blessing!

I see you're in Ohio. Me, too. Not sure where in Ohio you are, but I've been checking Craigslist for Viking software & I came across this listing for a Designer 1: http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/art/2290333106.html

Don't know if that's what you had in mind, but I paid about the same for my Designer 1 a year and a half ago & it was money well spent. I bought it to replace my 3 separate sewing, embroidery & straight stitch only quilting machines & I love, love, love it! It's great for free motion quilting & has the best satin stitch I've ever seen.

Good luck & have fun machine shopping!!

Yes we are cool!!! My mom doesn't sew, but she got me a Brother LS2125 that a friend of hers was going to get rid of (she quit sewing - ?????), so my mom took it for me!! Haven't used it yet (in another state), but will this fall!!!
