I was given this machine by a friend who was getting rid of everything in her house. I came from her late husbands grandmother and that is all I know. I have looked on ebay and tried to google for information - but little is there. I am hoping that one of you marvelous people would have an idea of what I have - just to know. It is really, really heavy - so I have ruled out a featherweight. It is an Improved Eldrige Rotary in a solid wood case and cover.
    Thank you in advance!!

I CAN ONLY TELL YOU THAT THEY WERE IN BUSINESS FROM 1869 TO 1890, SO YOU HAVE A VERY OLD SEWING MACHINE.

The machine looks great but the wires appear to be showing their age. Please get all cords replaced before plugging it in. Vintage machines can give you a nasty shock or even catch fire if the wires are cracked, frayed, exposed or show signs of deterioration. I love old machines but when they are older than I am, the wires are always suspect.

You will find much more info on this machine if you Google it with the spelling ELDREDGE as opposed to Eldrige.

Congrats! Looks like you got a great machine.

Replacing the cords is on my list - they look scary! And thank you for the spelling correction - it will help.
