I am interested in a featherweight and would like to start looking for one. What year and models do most of you look for? Any other help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
Hope I put this in right place

They came in black most comon, tan, and a white. any other color is not true to a FW. Any year of the older ones are fine. They have come out again but are not as well made as they were.

I'd love an old featherweight too. It doesn't even have to be in great cosmetic paint shape-because I'd probably paint it. I'm one of those folks who don't care about the antique monetary value. I just gotta please me! :)

Deepending on your age ... I'm 55 and mine was born in 1955 - she brings much pleasure and keeps me young!

I don't think they made any in 1943 which is my birth year. At least I havn't found one yet. Settled on another year and love my "Licorice" and would like a white one but so far havn't found one. I do love the old machines even though I have a new Viking.

You can do a search for Featherweight on this board and the Internet. There is a wealth of information available.
It is good if you know what to consider when you find one. I was so excited to find one at an estate sale I just said "I'll take it" without even taking it out of the case. Luckily turned out to be in wonderful condition and a Centennial model. After learning more about them would surely have looked it over thoroughly.
They are out there in great condition and poor condition and this may determine the price.

Anyone know what a featherlite is? I found one in a thrift store for 12.00. It weighs 10 lbs, only does a straight stitch, and is cream colored but its not a singer.
