Yep, was going to start a new project. Talked with my DDIL to get a list of birthday wishes for our DGS when she asked me if I could use some denim. You bet!!! She brought me two sacks of denim jeans that either had the knees worn out or torn. WOW, I could not cut up these jeans when all they needed was mending. So, I have taken two pairs of jeans and cut them up to use for mending. My son now gets two pairs of jeans to work in and my grandson gets four pairs to play in. It is such a GREAT feeling that I can hand over six pairs of jeans to be used....saving a lot of $$$$. I have now let them know that I can MEND clothes too....not just quilt. Made them really happy!!!

OMG, I just got through sewing patches on DH's work jeans (knees) I HATE doing it. Sewing on the machine and wrestling it every inch of the way. Now my arms are tired and I will have to lie down with a cool moist handkerchief on my forehead for an hour or so. ;-)

Take out the inside leg seam - the one that's not flat-felled. Repair the knees, resew the seam. Much easier, especially if you're working on children's jeans or slim adult ones.

Having two boys I had a lot of worn-out-at-the-knee jeans. I'd remove the back pockets and sew them to the knee in the front. Looked cute, got many compliments,
