Well, I do not have an engineer husband but he does think like one.
Might I suggest to you that you go to a local Lowes or something like that and ask them if they can cut a piece of plywood the size that you want?
I had to do that once and they did not charge me for the cut but just for the the plywood.
Didn't hurt hubby's feeling either.

My husband is not an engineer, but he is a perfectionist. I go thru the same thing. Thought we would never get the LA frame set up. He still thinks they designed it wrong. LOL!!!

I hear you. You and I are married to left brain people. Mine is a pharmacist. He over analysis everything.
When we bought this house it needed some re working. He bulldozed the whole front off and started over. "it has to be symentrical"
I would rather use the KISS system also.

My dh is not an engineer but can still over think it...the positive side to an engineer dh according to lots of my friends is that they make greeat problem solvers in their quilting,,,,,an d most engineeres make great quilters if they are willing to pick up the hobby.....your lucky your dh cares enough to make sure you get it right...mine supports my every decision and will help me to analyze it and move foward ....you gotta love it...hehheee

so go to the local lumber store, ask them to cut you a piece of plywood the size you need (even if it costs extra) and cover it yourself...it will be less stressful than waiting and listening to him tell you all the reasons why your idea won't work!!!

ROTFLMBO!!! Your story is so funny and REAL!!! Yes, ladies, there are lots of men out there like that! I'm married to an engineer and I feel your pain! I love him to death but when it comes to figuring out something my mind spins with all the details. By the time he's done talking it's gotten beaten to death, I really don't want it anymore. Or, so I say, then go and do it myself and then, as he walks by, smile when he winces! LOL! You made my day!

I, too amm married to an engineer. And I want a big ironing board-2 actually, so I can have one at the lake. When I told him about drilling the holes in it so the steam doesn't come back to the iron he said that you couldn't just lay it on the table because there would be no place for the steam to go. So I'm still waiting! Typical wait for something around here is measured in years not months or days.

Same problem here, too. My DH is a Journeyman Machinist, everything to the nearest 1/10,000 of an inch!. I quit asking, because everything turns into an "all day" ordeal (and I am the "go for" or should I say, assistant) and usually does not turn out the way I wanted it to. I am a KISS person, too!

I LOVE this post !! Worked in the engineering world for over 26 years. Started out as the only "girl" in the early 70's. These guys would come in and talk about their wives "big ideas.!" Every day there was some story... hah!

We all thought of how too's .. including "sky hooks" hooks that came out of the sky with on attachment. Dreamed of that one when I broke my back.. so I didn't have to move my feet about. hah!

You made me laugh.. So sorry to see your troubles.. Over engineered, sidewalk engineer, you need your own hard hat, they do ! come ! in PINK ! One geologist would slam her clip board down and loudy say "Why don't the drillers listen to me!" uhhhh could be the pink hard hat ! ( 1990's)
