    i had a great ladder for quilts. dh thought it looked just like a string-bean trellis. guess where it is now. one guess.

    I also love the look of the old ladder, but does anyone know how you could seal it and still keep the weathered, peeling-paint look? I wouldn't want to put my quilts on the ladder as is. I gues one idea would be to put some fabric or another barrier between the folded quilt and the ladder, but are there paint products that would do the trick?

    i would rest the quilt on acid-free paper placed between it and the ladder. there are fixatives available, but i don't know what the long-term effects on the quilt would be. i don't think you want to varnish the ladder or even wax it.
