can you mix fabrics?

Hey thanks everyone! I am using a confetti white background and mostly Batiks (sorry I didn't know how to spell it but now I do). I'll post up the picture when I'm done with it. It's still fairly new. Again thanks for welcoming me and all the nice inputs.

batiks tend to bleed-so i would be sure to pre-wash them- but you can mix anything you want- the only thing i ever worry about is whether or not they can be laundered together- as long as they all can be washed- they all can be used in my book

I'm making a scrappy quilt right now that has cotton, flannel, corduroy, sparkly Christmas fabric, batiks...

Quilts that are going to be washed and used a lot, I am more careful mixing fabrics. Wall hangings, quilts that aren't used often, I would mix just about anything.
