I am in a quilting guild And we have a wonderful lady in our group .Her has cancer and is not doing to well, But we are all making a 9 1/2 block to put in a quilt for her. My problem is I don't know what kind of block to make. Everyone is making blocks to show how each person feels about her. But I don't know what to do.Please help me.

Do you know of a favorite hobby or color or type of block that she liked? Are there certain types of fabrics that she likes, such as batiks, or 1930's, or something like that? Does that help any?

A Friendship Star (quilterscache.com) done in her favorite colors. 12 1/2 is big for a Friendship Star. I'd make the outside blocks HSTs to cut down on the plain spaces. This one was a failed block . It was a 1/4 inch too small (also needs pressing and squaring), but you get the idea.

Since she is in your guild, she will love and appreciate anything you choose.

Very nice of all of you. I will keep her in my prayers.

What about an autograph block - where everyone signs their name in one of the pieces?

how about heart and hand? Trace your hand onto any fabric you like, applique to the background and add a heart? then you can embellish however it calls to you
