Is anyone else having trouble getting their blocks to measure to the 12 1/2 inches? I am having a heck of a time. If I use 1/4 inch they are too small, if I use a scant 1/4 inch they are way too big. Any suggestions?

i have the best success when i put 2-3 threads into the cutting and then just sew a normal 1/4 seam instead of a scant.

for example - if you want to cut a 2.5 inch strip set the ruler at 2.5 inches plus 2-3 threads.

then you can sew a true 1/4 inch seam and you should have just enough from those few extra threads you put into the cutting to have it measure a true 12.5 inches.

Red Garnet, Thank you for your help.

Please disregard the date. After learning how to post a picture here, maybe I can learn how to reset/delete the date function on my camera.
