Has anyone used this product? Does anyone know of any tutorials re using this product? You apply it and once dry iron the fabric and depending on how long you leave the iron on fabric the colour is removed . Thought it may be useful in applique and art quilts.

Not sure about the gel, but Helen Godden uses a bleach technique in quite a few of her quilts, maybe she would be worth emailing and asking what she uses.

I bought some of the decolorant gel. It is so much fun to play with. It works well. Some fabrics lose color better than others. I have used paint brushes, stamps and stencils. I haven't used it for a while. Need to get it back out.

Will have to check this out. I've used bleach with a teeny tiny paint brush with good effect, but it's rather difficult to control (the Clorox bleach pens don't work). I would think the gel would be easier to control.
I haven't tried the "thick" bleach on fabric yet. Had some (to use as regular household bleach) but when I had it I didn't need to bleach any fabric.

I've used standard discharge techniques in several ways with excellent results in art quilts and have been wanting to try the discharge pastes and gels since I first read about them.
That said, there's an excellent article by Ana Buzzalino in the Aug/Sept 2010 issue of Quilting Arts about discharge paste (they used Jacquard) and how you can add fabric paint to it. When you do that, the original color of the fabric is removed and it is replaced by the color of the paint.
Discharge paste is also discussed in the book The Painted Quilt, by Linda and Laura Klemshall.
