Here's my very first quilt. I bought a kit while on vacation when I was in my 30's. I did it all by hand from the piecing to the quilting. Didn't have a clue to what I was doing. I just outlined the pattern & whipped stitched around the little boy. It took me years, because I would get sick of it & put it away in a closet for months. I finally finished it, but decided that quilting was not for me. (It now lays at the end of a bed in our guest room.) In a very snowy winter a couple of years ago I got the quilting bug and decided to try machine quilting. Now I'm hooked on quilting.

    Holy Moly!
    That's your first quilt?!?!?!
    Hand- or machine- pieced?
It's really beautiful. Perfect points. The colors, the setting, the cornerstones.

    Fabulous!
If that is your first quilt...I can't wait to see what you make in the future.

    Ditto!!!

I found some of her old handkerchiefs and decided to use them in a quilt (I had done much of ANY sewing....mostly repair work by hand)
But thought I would give it a try and just jumped in. Here's the finished quilt.
I just called it M.O.M. (Memories of Mom)
That was nice to make a quilt with your mothers old handkerchiefs. Like the quilt. Good work.

All these are beautiful quilts. Well here is my first unfinished quilt. I just need to finish sewing the binding. OOps the picture don't show the binding, but it is the same color as the back, will have to take another picture.

This was made from samples of furnishing fabric. 7 inch blocks, and I managed to get four out of each piece. The samples cost me 10 pence each, the binding was also from the same bargain box, and the backing is plain, cheap calico. It is one of my favourite garden accessories - it graces my very old garden bench in the summer - and it comes camping with me.

This was my first one after twenty years of raising BOYS. I ended up keeping it. It had been a baby gift for my nephew's first but the red ran. I had forgot that DOES happen.
