I was in an antique shop yesterday and noticed an older sewing machine. Stepped over to see it as it was in a rather modern looking cabinet. It is a Minnesota and, when I opened the door to the cabinet, lo and behold, it is a treadle. Just looked on ebay and they want a mint just for the cabinet! I'm thinking we aren't to promote individual businesses here but it was in a shop as far west as you can get in Illinois. If you want to follow up on this, PM me. I'm reasonably certain the price was $149. I did not try the machine since I was not interested in purchasing it myself.

all the other ones online (no fancy cabinets) were $150 or under. they were made by sears early in the 1900's. there's one listed on the goodwill website for $10.00. be sure of the working condition if you're thinking of buying it.

edit: that price in the upper right-hand corner is for the bookcase or whatever that is. the sewing machine has been sold and doesn't show a price.

No, the single door to the cabinet opened with the hinges on the left. There was a medallion of some sort centered on the door. Dark wood and without that pretty rail that is in the website proposed. The instruction manual was with it but I don't know if there were any attachments or bobbins. I was looking for a rocking chair, not a sewing machine. Since there has been so much conversation here about the vintage machines, I stepped over to admire, rather than really examine. Saw a cabinet on Ebay more like the one I saw yesterday and the price is somewhere in the neighborhood of $500, just for the cabinet! Thought it was an interesting machine since most of the treadles I've seen have the treadle part open to be seen and the drawers on the side.

I have a Minnesota L in a lovely cabinet like you mentioned. I wish I had the manuel because the bobbin tension is not right. Any ideas anyone? Anyway, I bought mine at a barn sale and it is sweet!
