I found some lighthouse fabric specific to NC! I'm on the hunt for more because I don't have enough :cry: This will be a lot of fun!

When Carsey set up the swap she wanted quilters to send FQs they would enjoy sharing.

Personally, I thought it would be nice to find FQs made in USA, but unfortunately that's an impossibility these days. So I decided I would find fabrics that represent my area of the country. Middle Tennesse was a big batteground during the War Between the States so I decided to use Civil War reproduction fabric. That was my choice.

Some participants are finding fabrics that have unique prints to their area of the county (eg. Hershey Co. in PA, red telephone boxes in Great Britian, aboriginal designs in Australia etc.)

Others are finding patterns that reflect their personality; while others are selecting FQs they would like to use for their own quilt.

So your selection is wide open. Have fun with your selection!

It will be so much fun to see what is returned.

P.S. I've been to online sites out of California and there are some awesome prints that are not available in LQS in MI or TN.

That will be so cool! There are a lot of people who really enjoy the lighthouse fabric. Lighthouse restoration and historical society run lighthouses are really big around the Great Lakes in MI.

I will do my best to get more of the one I have now, Outer Banks Lighthouse, it's got Hatteras, Ocracoke, Bodie and Bald Head. I just checked the website and they are all out... :( If I get lighthouse fabric is that ok? Decisions, decisions, LOL 8-)

okay, I can't stand it anymore. I must sign up (pm to follow). A big thank you to Carsey and Thrums. Carsey, you may need to get a storage shed or move one of the kids out... snicker. when you get a bunch we must see a picture of you buried in fabric lol. I'm from a small College town in Northern California that was left back in the 60's and 70's. free love, hippies, [eace signs, herbs, and saving the earth are big here and lots of our fabric is made locally with natural dyes. onion skin, flowers, herbs, and teas. all should be bleed safe if taken care of but..... the next town over has JoAnnes fabrics that could be washed and dried without too much thought. opinions?

I only just came across this thread. I might be interested, but have a few questions, though. I have to admit, I didn't read through all twenty pages, so please forgive me, if I ask something which has already been asked.

1. Return postage: I wouldn't know if it's possible for me to buy American postage stamps here in Switzerland. I'll have to enquire about that and would need your estimate on how much postage is needed.

2. Fat quarters: Could I cut these myself from fabric? That would mean, that they might have no selvage. But I'd make sure to cut them the right size.

3. International fabric: Problem with quilt shop fabric is, that we get all the same brands you do, so don't get excited in your expectations.

I'll look into this and might join you. There's still plenty of time, as I see it.

Ooohhhh......I myself love the personal touch of hand-dyed! As long as the FQs are labeled it should be fine.
