Go on Utube and watch anything you can that Sharon Schamber has put on Utube, I've learned sooooo much from the ladies here on the board and watching the Utube videos. I'm usually NOT a computer person but WOW!, I love the QB and Utube, lol......

I love Crafty Gemini! She is easy to follow and repeats for you. Connecting Threads is also very easy to follow. It did the trick for me and I have no more trouble with bindings. Good luck.

If you are going to machine sew it on, I would recommend that you use a serger to finish your quilt sandwich and prepare it for the binding. This does a couple of things for you. First, it keeps all layers together nicely. Second, it feeds through the machine very nice without a walking foot. Thirdly, it gives you the 1/4 inch mark to make your mitered corners (YouTube tut will explain) without measuring. And lastly, in my opinion, it makes it easier to ensure that your binding is "stuffed."

One thing that I have learned from a NQA Judge (National Quilt Association) is if you ever plan on entering a quilt in a judged show make sure when you're hand sewing your binding to the back make a couple stitches in the mitered corner on the front and back. They don't want any place where a small finger can get in. She checked every quilt she judged for that.
