She said she would like to get me one that will be with a sewing machine cabinet, as the one I have is a portable, she wants me to have something more stable.

So... we will be watching the thrift stores hehe (not sure how much she is willing to spend)

she got her pfaff second hand, for $8, then spent I think about $100 getting it serviced. Not sure what pfaff it is, just know it is a pfaff, and she loves it.
So nice to hear that someone else has a great MIL like mine. She has given me so much and we have great fun sewing together. She's 89, but I think she is really younger than me! We are very lucky, you and I.

Great straight stitch machine for nearly any home sewing chores.

I know to each his own, but I can't appreciate or justify collecting sewing machines...yet. The Board is so influential though, you dears.
But, I do love to collect seam rippers and scissors! Do you think I'm gearing up to collecting machines??????? Uh oh :?
I think you may be in trouble....
lovelyl: I'd love to have a Featherweight, but I'm so afraid of getting scammed if I buy on eBay or an on-line place like that. Do these machines really cost 500-600 dollars? I wish I knew someone personally or have someone recommend a seller. I know, I know I don't need a FW, but something is calling me to consider one.

Now I don't feel so strange having more than one! I've "only" got 5 - one is a Viking-Huskvarna which my son (also a sewer/costumer) found for me at a garage sale. 2, including the Viking need work, so I keep moving them from house to house, hoping to get the money together to have them serviced!
