Wow, sounds like the perfect vacation to me, a wonderful quilt shop, Disneyland, family, new friends, what more could one ask for? Super, loved the pictures. :-)

Looks like you had a great time. You would love MaryJos in Gastonia, North Carolina and I would gladly take you there if ever you got to my part of the country.

So glad that you discovered this wonderful place. It is my favorite place to spends hours looking thru flat folds.

But I am grateful that I live about an hour away or I would go too often and spend too much. A few years ago I spent over $500 in one visit and still have much of that fabric. It is easy for a fabric-oholic to go overboard. I heard that they have raised prices. Last time I was there about a year ago, the flat folds were $1.99yd, up from 1.69 a few years earlier.

It is on the corner of Knott and Ball. Across the street is a great place to get a bite to eat if you like Mexican food. I don't remember the name, a friend and I stop in and have lunch when we do a day at M&L.

That store has changed a lot since the 90's. It used to look like a dump that was just a fabric outlet. It
had ladies in babooshkas who didn't speak English who would practically cut your arms off if you touched one of the very few carts for your fabric. The flannels were flatfolds that were almost stacked to the ceiling of poor quality but cost only $1.00 per yard. In the windows there were miles and miles of cheesy curtain nylon and nothing was computerized so check-out was really a trial.
I'm told that it has been taken over by a newer generation that has it's feet in the current century and thus the store you see in these pictures.
That is how I remember that store!! That is why I have not been back in years. Now seeing these pics, I will have to make a trip there and soon. I only live in Anaheim where M&L is located!! No this is exciting...

I use to live down close to there and really miss being able to shop. It is an old grocery store. Happy you had a wonderful experience.
