My 2 grandsons call me Grandma Janie since they have another grandmother they call just Grandma. I'm trying to get my new granddaughter to call me Grammy, and I don't think it will stick. Everyone gets it wrong: They refer to me as Gammy! Sheesh!

I am Oma, fit well with our German background. My youngest grandsons are going to be 13 in a couple of weeks and oh how I miss having a little one.

My eight grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren call me Ma, and my husband Pa. One grandson, when he was around 3, and who now has a son of his own, thought we were Maul and Paul.

Before our oldest grandson was born, my husband started calling me Granny and taught him to call me Granny also. I wasn't thrilled at the time but got used to it. When DGS was learning to talk, my husband would ruffle his hair and say, "You're my Best Buddy". DGS started calling my husband Best Buddy and that has also stuck. He is now 16 and still calls him that. We are Granny and Best Buddy to all of the grandchildren. Both sets of parents were Grandpa and Grandma(last name) to our kids. Sometimes my MIL was Just Grandma to our kids because the Great Grandparents lived on the same farm as them.

My oldest grandson started calling me grandpama, could not have that, so I be came grandmommy. He and his sister call me grandmommy or grandma. The other 4 call me grandme. My daughter did not want the grandma with last name, so she started to have her oldest call me grandme and husband grandpe. It was really funny when he called him pepe. I still laugh about that. the 2 little ones call be grandme afterhearing the two older boys call me that.

They each call me something different. The oldest calls me Nana, his little brother calls me Nanny. My oldest granddaughter calls me Nina and the youngest hasn't started talking yet. It will be interesting to see what name she picks. LOL

We have one granddaughter who is 18 months and her brother is due in December. I am of French descent so they will call me Memere. I think it originates back to "mother's mother". I called my grandmother Memere and my kids called my mom that as well. My husband is Pepere (father's father). I am often told it sounds old, but I think of my mom and my grandmother and remember warm, loving women and that is what I want to be to my grandchildren. I don't worry about it sounding old because I know I'm not!
