Info needed on Piemont sewing machine
I have been lurking on this site for awhile and thoght that I would request the assistance of the experts.
I purchased a 19?? Piedmont sewing machine. It is made by Singer for the Hudson Bay Company.
I have other machines that I have been able to trace the history and at least find the year that they were made but I have ran into a wall with tracing this machine.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to were to find info? When I google it all I get are ads for selling the machines and the Singer site doesn't aknowledge the serial number.
Any help will be greatly apprieciated.
Happy sewing!

There was a Piedmont on Kijiji a while ago and the seller said "made by Singer for the Hudsons Bay Company" but I thnk ppl assume all old black machines were made by Singer....that one was probably a class 15 clone

The rumor is that Hudson Bay bought out all of the leftover Singer parts when the Singer factory in Scotland closed... hence the "Made by Singer for Hudson Bay Company", however none of the parts carry the "Simanco" name on them, or not that anyone's found anyway, giving weight to the word "rumor".
Many of the Piedmonts have a JA serial, making them Japanese machines.
