    Welcome from Ohio!

Paper piecing was the very first thing I learned in quilting. I'm still loving it and I'm quilting now for a very, very long time.

Don't think you are not able to do it or it just looks to hard. Sit down and start whatever you want to do, you'll get the hang of it, just like you did many times before.

In my opinion the only failure you can have is, not to try. Hey and even the long time quilter still makes mistakes. Believe me, I talk from experience.

I think paper peicing can be wonderful for a beginner. Do a several practice pieces from Carol Doaks web site , as suggested earlier, using scrap fabric. It took me a few to get the hang of it( it was the flipping part) , but once I did ... no stopping.. just kept looking for more and more patterns.
It does take more time, so if you are looking for a quick method , paper piecing is not it. But if you are looking for amazing results that are next to impossible to achieve any other way , especially for a beginner, go for it. Look for patterns that have larger pieces, no curves, and starch your fabrics prior to cutting.

welcome! I have just started PP... it is a bit difficult when you first start... I tend to get frustrating but am sticking with it because I enjoy a challenge. I LOVE the end result of PP.... go ahead and try it!

Another welcome from Texas! I am fairly new to the site - but have learned so much already. I do a lot of searches, find a lot of great information that I didn't even know I didn't know! This is a wonderful website. :-)

I actually signed up for a paper piecing class that starts next week - but am a little concerned as it seems the patterns might be more involved. Going to talk to the LQS that is offering them. I have watched several YouTube videos on it though - and it looks like you can create some very nice things with the paper piecing that would be difficult or impossible any other way. It is not fast - but it does produce some very detailed blocks.
