What do you do when you need to be inspired to quilt. I love it and my intentons are good but then I can never get my thought process put to work and getting started is a big issue. So--do you talk to friends, look at books, U-Tube?

I make a potholder or placemat or even coasters. It gets finished the same day and gets you into the groove.

I'm always in the mood to sew. It's my way of de-stressing from working all day. But, if I need inspiration, all I need to do is pick up a quilting magazine, and the wheels are spinning...

I just jump in a do something, anything quilt related to get myself going. Once I go I can't stop.

I try to get the ones that are already started. Once one of those is finished, I just keep on moving.

New quilt book or pattern works for me.

I get busy with charity quilts as both groups I belong to have them ready to be sewn into a top.

Do you have a sewing area that you can leave set up all the time ? If so, try just popping in to sew for 15 minutes. You will be amazed at how much you can get done.

I know that I have a terrible habit of 'over-thinking' everything - so that every task/errand/obligation mentally becomes a big todo ( oh I would really like to make that - but i need to pick 8 fabrics - and the table really needs to be cleaned off - and i think I'm out of thread - and I don't have time to cut 182 squares right now - and i have no idea what kind of border etc etc. ). So instead just take 15 minutes and start by picking 3 fabrics. Tomorrow pick 2 more. And before you know it you will be in there longer than 15 minutes at a time and stuff will be happening.

    Just a thought.
