How do u figure the size for the squares, is there a formula or what.....so if I wanted to us charm square size 5" but would have to b 5 and a half.......just wondering how it is figured if u can help

One can cut 9 1/2 inch bias strips (or what ever size beginning square you want) and cut squares from those. That gives the beginning squares on bias. When done sewing together and cutting, outside edges will be on straight grain.
