Default Making something from some orphan blocks.

My best quilt friend called me a few days ago and said I have a pretty please please challenge for you. Can you make a Civil War small quilt/wallhanging by next Friday? Yeah right, just count on me to whip one right up, but I got to thinking I have some blocks made from civil war fabrics from a class that I never did anything with. I also found this carpenters wheel block I made using some of the same left over fabrics. Here is what I have to work with. I have been half heartly arranging them in some kind of order. I think I'm going to challenge myself to do something with it and have a wall hanging done. My best quilt friend will owe me big time. LOL

Thanks Lynnie. I have this center layout with 8 blocks left over. I think I'll add a light border around the center and then solid square blocks to fill out the spaces and call it done and start quilting it.

This is very fun seing how you are designing the wallhanging from the begining. I hope you keep showing the progress if you have the time.

What if you took the 8 leftover blocks apart and made 32 four patch blocks - would that be enough for the border?

Hey, I can't believe how you took those blocks and arranged them like that so fast. Perfect! I think your idea is great. You're good thinking fast on your feet. Wish you were my friend.

QuiltingVagabond it would look great but I only 1/2 day Monday and a few hours Tuesday and the evenings until Friday to finish. I will have to use solid blocks for time sake. I don't know yet if I use the border fabric or the civil war fabric. I'll have to audition it both ways if I get a second wind tonight. I have the center sewn with border. I went with a pale molted yellow. The camera doesn't show the color all that great. I will attach the Carpenter's Wheel block by machine applique last.
