This year I have had 2 operations and my living room and dining room have become my sewing areas as walking upstairs was a problem with a downstairs loo. I sew and hand stitch in the living room iron and cut in the dining room. Sandwiching is done in dining room. With weeks house bound it has been wondeRful . Thinking of putting my living. Room upstairs . My house is mine, and works for me. Go to and do it. You can always go back.

My whole house is my sewing room as I live alone. Adding a large cutting table to the living room, in front of the biggest window, was the best move I ever made. My sewing machine and ironing board (most of the time!)are still in the "real" sewing room. It keeps me moving back and forth. Gotta burn those calories somehow!

yes,go for it.You will love it and be more productive. We have a tiny kitchen and a medium dining room with a connected living room-they are similar in size. The dining room is our living room and the living room is my sewing/ironing/thread stash/cutting room.I can still talk to my honey while sewing.

Yes, I think it's a great idea. I am seriously thinking of making my lower level family room into my sewing room and moving the TV upstairs to the bedroom I had made into a sewing room. DH is not too sure right now, but I think I need that space. If you are alone much of the time, that living room/sewing room will work out just fine for you. Just be sure and put in a comfy chair.
