Very pretty...I have just finished a string top (need a kick in the pants to do the backing and basting). Great fun to do...and they are so cheery, makes you smile just looking at them.

I'd like to make a string quilt. Love the idea of just reaching in and grabbing whatever fabric is next.
I decided to try them at 8.5" squares so I cut the foundation fabric at that, by the time I trimmed they came out at just over 8". I think a lot of people do them at approx. 6" but I just have so many strips!

You probably have encouraged a huge number of quilters to do a string quilt. Especially appealing to me is the slightly wonky factor. It makes a playfulness which I find endearing.

I had to froggy sew the Autumn colour one 3 times cos I did it too correctly and I particularly wanted the wonky look!

Default Update, but put on hold

I have had to put my String quilt aside as I am doing another quilt for LovequiltUK but I thought I would show you the progress so far. I am delighted with the result because as you can see the Sofa is rather plain but the String quilt is really livening it up

I am thinking of investing in a couple of metres of this gorgeous fleece http://www.calicolaine.co.uk/Red-Ted...1864824420ac97 so I can reverse it when it's Christmastime!
