    Default Quilt/ing books question

Good Morning, All! I have a question...if you discovered several shelves with many, many books related to quilting of every subject imaginable, how would you best surf those shelves? By author/publisher? By technique or subject? By title? Dewey decimal?(!) I guess I might go study the shelves in the bookstore, huh? Just looking for gut-instinct responses from everyone.

I would probably go book by book, lol, I love looking at Quilt books, but final decision would be based on technique or patterns. Have fun!

I have mine shelved alphabetically according to author. And, I have an Excel file of them in the same order (author, title, publisher). I printed it out and keep it in my purse, that way I know which books I have when I go shopping.

I have mine by subject. It is easier for me to find a certain project in a book when I have forgotten which one it is in when they are all there together.

I have mine by technique! Paper Pieced, Applique, Strip method, Template, bargello etc with one whole one for scrap. Then if the volume of one group is large I break it down further into traditional and non- traditional. I use a cardboard with the group name slid inbetween to separate and mark a different section. I also store my patterns in with the books or at least he ones that have the nice zip lock plastic.

I know the title of the book I want is either hardback or soft cover or just a booklet. I keep my books arranged by size and type of binding. At a quilt shop I want to see the books arranged with front cover facing out.
