    Default Backing Not Straight

I just pinned half of a 60" quilt in the sandwich. Now I realize that it is not quite parallel to the selvedge. Is this going to be a serious problem? I hate to do it over, but will if it will ruin the quilt otherwise. Any thoughts?

I know it's a pain, but personally I'd repin it. I'm a little bit perfectionistic about those things, and that's just me.

I've repinned so many times that I measure measure measure that first row of pins, and every couple rows after that.

Find some TV program that you want to watch and slowly unpin as you are enjoying some interesting program. It will be done before you know it. I usually try for a comedy show.

I doubt that it will matter when the quilting is finished, unless the back has a pattern that would draw attention to its being not quite straight.

Backing has no noticeable design. Would have to do it all where it's laid out, far from TV in kitchen.

I wouldn't bother unpinning if there is no noticeable pattern. It certainly won't damage your quilt, or make it weaker.

I wouldn't bother to redo it either unless it were directional or pieced to where the seams from the piecing would look off. If I'm using one big solid piece for backing I try to keep it straight but I don't stress over it. You should be good in my opinion! **thumbs up**

as long as it doesn't mean you will run out of backing- due to it not being straight i wouldn't worry too much about it.,,so,make sure you still have plenty to 'carry on'- then- carry on

I agree. I wouldn't worry about it, as long as you have enough to cover the whole back.

I would not worry about it as long there is enough and it is not to noticed. Go ahead with your pinning.

Thank you. SInce I had already taken it apart when DH pointed out two similar blocks side by side, I left it pinned. Mostly did SID, and am now hand stitching binding turnover. It's looking pretty good, I think. Will post when done. Going to call it Flier Stars, I think.
