Your quilt is beautiful. I've been quilting for a few years and still haven't tried triangles. Only God is perfect, so I don't mind little "boo-boo's" in my quilts. I've noticed some people, as they age, think it's okay to hurt other peoples feelings. I'd like to see her first quilt. I was so proud when I finally finished my first quilt. It was close to Christmas, and my husbands whole family gathered together. I had showed my quilt to my mother in law, who told me how nice it was, then later, when the others wanted to see the quilt, I showed it again. That's when she took the quilt and started pointing out all the flaws. I made up my mind right there, that she would not get anything sewn from me. She used to be a very nice person, but now, that she can't do as much by herself, she likes to try to make up stories about the other ones, trying to get every mad at each other. Most people want their family to get along, not try to tear them apart. Please don't let what your aunt said stop you from doing something you are very good at.

That is just such a wonderful quilt. I am so impressed that you hand quilted it on your first one. Love the pattern as well as your fabric choices. I too am making a quilt for my 22 yo son for Christmas. Congratulations on completing it! Great job.

I think it's marvelous. Depending on your aunt's age/generation and comparing her with my grandmother ... the story goes that my GM would measure the stitches in an inch and if they were too big she made her girls rip it out and start over. However, by the time my mom came along GM was 45 and had already been raising children for THIRTY years so she didn't even try to teach my mom.

Fast forward to modern times with so many things to juggle and so many distractions I think you will find that most quilters are of the attitude that if you like it ... that's all that counts. Attempting to make a quilt totally by hand as your first project is remarkable and you should be very proud.

That is beautiful! Your son is so lucky! Your stitching is so precise, I would never have the patience for that -- ewwwwwww did I just say the "P" word? What a wonderful, thoughtful gift, and I think your plan to make your Aunt something is sweet too.

It's lovely - a true labor. There is always someone who has to rain on the parade - nevertheless you are kind - that says something about you1
