Default It's Virtual Quilt Day!! Today - Sunday, January 20, 2013

Today is the day!! Today I am hosting a Virtual Quilt Day. There are no rules. Basically I started this because I was too lazy to lug my sewing machine to the local quilt store for an all day sew-in. So I decided to have a home sew in with all my friends through the internet!! Join in anytime you can today. All you have to do is come here when you start and tell us your goals, then through out the day check in and let us know how you are doing and leave encouragement for others! That's it!! If you can only join us for half a day, that's fine. If you are in a different time zone, that's fine. This is just a loose and fun thing!! I find it helps me to sew more if I am joined by so many other sewers as well!!

Okay so here are my goals for the day:

    1. Put together 3 applique blocks
    2. Finish top for geese in the forest quilt

Sounds easy, but we all know how these things go!! So now tell me your goals and then get to sewing!! Pictures are always welcome!!

    Cheers!
    Rachel

Today my project is to hand applique this block.

The block is19 from best of friends reverse applique. I'm running off schedule so hope a whole block today will help me catch up. This is hopefully to be finished by Easter.

This is my first attempt at a quilt, so today I'm going to put it together and do in-the-ditch machine quilting.

Here is the quilt top; I'll post my progress later today since I won't be able to start this until after Noon ET. I'm looking forward to seeing what others have in the works.

My goal for today is to pillowcase the layers I pinned together yesterday afternoon and, hopefully, do some of the cross hatching. This morning is for going to Mass and then "finding lunch." When DH watches football I'll be stitching. Happy VQD!

My goal for today is to FMQ a Linus quilt and put on the binding. Doesn't sound like much but I'm a novice and move very slowly or my stitches get inconsistent.
Now I need to make myself get off the ipad and out of my cozy warm chair . . .

My goal is to cut (using rotary cutter) the strips for a log cabin heart. It has over 1200 pieces. 1 1/4" and 2" wide, by 2' to 11 1/2" long.If I can get my tech friend to help me I'd take a picture. This will be the 19th one I've cut out, and the 16th top I've done. So, I should be able to do it blindfolded, but I've already sliced my finger with my eyes open, and don't want that to happen again. LOL Hope everybody has fun on VQD.

Good morning VQers. My goal today is to just get something accomplished. I have some embroidered blocks for the wallhanging swap that I need to do something with. Then I have 7 or 8 quilttops that Dotcomdtcm sent me to be quilted. Four are for breast cancer patients, so I need to quilt the blocks around a center embroidered design. They are so cute, I don't want to mess them up. Then I have a double-slice layer cake to finish sewing together. I also have a quilt I am making for myself that is a lattice type block made with all batiks; am just getting started on that. I will try to post pics in a bit....to dark here to take pics yet. Happy quilting everyone! This will be so much fun!

Good morning everyone, Working on my second cup of coffee and:

Apple Blossom Star: I chose this position for the star so I had to unsew my original plan with the solid red center. Now to resew it back together.

Make your day a good one.

Mind if I join you? Today I plan on making more flower star blocks for the queen-sized quilt I'm making for our bed. I have only one quilt we use on the bed, and it's not big enough! So I'm making one that's bigger. I have one row of the quilt already assembled. I was going to make 7 rows of 7 blocks each, but I think 5 blocks across will be plenty as I'm putting a sashing between the blocks and will add a border, not sure about that yet. I'm making each star with different fabrics, 2 colors in the star, and a white tonal for the background. Lots of HST's!

First on the agenda, though, is a pot of coffee and breakfast.

My goal is to finish 4 wonky log cabin quads, and maybe piece together more of the salt water taffy quilt top for my dgd. Here are pics of everything ready to go.
