Karen Griska: Help with alternatives to quilting
Karen Griska has a clever and inventive mind which has been busy thinking up various ways to tie a quilt.

if you order it tell her Sharyn sent you No affiliation, would just like her to know I support her
This is the link to the whole blog, http://selvageblog.blogspot.com/ if interested.
I've ordered it and am awaiting it to pop up in my email.
One of the most common refrains here is "I have so many finished tops..."
Would anyone like to join me in finishing one by tying one? I think I have about 12 tops, sadly and silently waiting in the closet.

Here's a quick and easy way to tie quilts that I have done on baby quilts. Machine stitch about 4" of 1/4" to 1/2" sating ribbon randomly on your quilt (Tack stitch). Then tie the ribbon with a surgeons knot. Voila....DONE.
Surgeons Knot: Tie once (like shoe laces) the on the second loop thread your ribbon end TWICE through the loop and pull tight.

Sharyn,
I'd love to help. PM me and we could get a few of my friends to help also. I bet that Lady Elisabeth on here would be interested too. We are in the Portland area so really not too far at all.

I learned to tie quilts when I was growing up in the 50's and 60's. We quilted, too, but Mother showed us how to tie some of the utility quilts, because it was fast. I just recently tied one for my son, and it turned out really good! Long waiting list for longarm quilting.
