Oh I think most quilters have at least once or twice or...lol.

I have two swap quilts (we squares out...and the swapers were to add several fabrics to make an 18" x 15" block)...we sent enough squares to make a twin size quilt. Well the size of the blocks was an issue, and so I cut them up (yep I did...stacked and whacked) and sewed them together...got to 24" square...cut those and sewed again...what a mess! I thought I'd end up with what looked like a crazy quilt...well they sure do look crazy...so bad. I'm going to use them as backing on practice samples. I'll then cut those into 18" squares and give to the vet.

Nope, you are not the only one. Now the secret is to figure out how to turn this challenge into something usable.

I feel your pain. I tried to make some stack and whack placemats and boy did I ever mess up a lot of fabric. I really embarrassed myself over these.

The last "mess" I made of a sewing project (actually plural!) became summer dresses for my 3 granddaughters with very little waste! I was still frustrated by my "dumbness" in the first place!
