I'd risk pawing through it! Wish it was closer to my cornfield in Me!

Reminds me of Margie's, a fabric store of remnants and ends I used to visit years ago (no longer in existence). Fabric stacked higher than your head, narrow aisles, one cutting table, and the fabric dye made my eyes burn if I stayed too long!

Obie's is fascinating but looks like a liability nightmare. I assume the owner knows what she's doing, though, and her customers aren't inclined to sue if something falls on them!

Looks like my quilt friends have to do a trip to Lancaster just to do this...It looks like Macy's all in one department.

Those pics do nothing but make me shutter at the bugs and creepy crawlies that may be lurking in between, underneath and on the top of those bolts, not to mention the claustrophobia and the fire trap. I'd take one step in and then turn and run out. Not my kinda fabric store!!

We have a shop called Treadles in Bloomington, Illinois just like that. You can barely get down the aisle by walking sideways.

My suggestion would be...if you are larger than a size 10, don't even think of trying to go in there, you would get stuck. There is no browsing in there. You just stand there and look and tell her what you have in mind, and she will pull it out for you....no easy task. It smells, and the floor sags. I have allergies, so never again for me. There is an upstairs too, that sells handmade crafts. Was afraid to climb the rickety stairs. Talk about Hoarders, Buried Alive....
And as far as prices, they are about the same as everywhere else in the area. If she would have a parking lot sale, and sell fabric for $5 a yard, she could become a millionaire and afford to build a new store.

Oh my goodness! Brings back memories! I took my husband in there once and he refused to move past the front door. I find Obie's to be so overwhelming I can't even look for anything. Just too much, and Lord help you if you want something from the bottom of the pile that is stacked to the ceiling! It is someplace everyone should experience just once!
