It looks wonderful! Did you do the thread painting when you quilted it or before? I hope you used a solid fabric on the back so students can study the stitching.

Your quilting is gorgeous!!! Wish I were closer so I could take your class. For some reason, I'm afraid to try to FMQ on my DSM. Thank you for sharing with us.

Hello, everyone! Thanks for the kind compliments. Yes, I did this on my domestic machine.
I did the thread painting as the quilting. It is best to use a 50wt thread,(or a bit finer, too) for the nicest look, I think. And a 75/11 needle is my choice. That is, I choose these weights for this particular look. Thread and needle makes a lot of difference in the look you can achieve.
I live in Northern Indiana and the classes are given close to Goshen, IN.
I did not use a solid backing as I was thinking of using up some stash I had, but it would be easier to see the stitching on a solid.
Do not be afraid of FMQing! I have been at it for a few years, but not intensely. I have learned things that would cut your learning time down a lot just from my own bumbling around! There is lots online that has been very helpful to me and also on this board. Once you reach a certain spot of achievement, and not a high one at that, it begins to "click" and you are really on your way! But PRACTICE is the key!
Want to try? . Go for it!
