You did a fabulous job and are an inspiration to all of us. I think starting out small is the key, on something you will use and don't care if it is perfect. Your suggestions of potholders are perfect.

I never purchased panels because they were rather "blah" to me. A few months ago I purchased one for a quick baby quilt. Not liking the look of the panel, I did exactly what you did! It was a cute animal zoo scene and came out so terrific I did a few others after that one! I do enjoy this quilting...gives a new life to a picture and is so much fun doing the quilting. Thanks for sharing yours. You did a great job! Love the look of this quilt.

this is very pretty. I love your FMQ! I tried it ONE time and did not notice (didn't look) at the back of the quilt; only to see a "birds nest of a mess from the bobbin side. I had to pick ot all of it (1/2 of the baby quilt). now I'm too chicken to try it again and just stitch in the ditch. I'm 60 yrs old and think I will die without ever mastering something like this. very nice Jill

Cherrio, Age is not a deterrent! -I am only a little behind you! And over half of the ladies I have in classes are your age or older! Those birdsnests are a real mess and it's always important to have the tension correct and to check underneath to be sure it's stitching right.

I'm kind of speechless right now! Your quilt is just beautiful. It's amazing what can be done with panels.

Thank you so much for all the tips you have been giving us. I have tried FMQ a little but need lots more practice.
One thing I found is not to rush it. Take your time. When I tried to go faster I made a mess of things.

Awesome, your work is beautiful and you bought the panel to life. Thread painting and FMQ is on my bucket list to learn. Starting now with FMQ, someday I hope to be able to do what you did and bring my quilt to life. Thank you for your inspiration!
