So am I!! Every time I go to the LQS and see new fabric with gold embelleshments I HAVE TO HAVE IT!! The only exception I make is with Christmas (or any "holiday") fabric.

I think I might be part Magpie

Ditto that! I am liking so many of the color combinations. Every time I see one I think "Ooooh I could have done that!". But I chose these colors to match my dining room and believe it or not ... when I finish these, they will be the FIRST finished quilt that I made specifically for me to keep in the house. I'm pretty excited about the prospect of actually keeping my own quilted item in a place where I can show it off.

Here is my first block. I had one done but the design got lost in my choice of background and after seeing how some of the rest of you did your blocks, I'm being a copycat and trying to let the design "float" on one background for the entire block. This is my second block. I don't like that the middle circle is so large and will watch that in blocks coming up and make an adjustment if possible. I'm using 2 inch borders that when the blocks are joined together will give a secondary pattern of weaving. Incidentally, I started with my color combinations because of the print border on this block and I had a lot of the red fabric left from another quilt. Shopping from the stash has it's constraints but does bring good discipline, at least for me. I've had the fabric for almost 3 years and it has just never worked where I thought it might but it does here. It will also be the final, wider border. You can hardly tell from the picture but there is a red outlline along with the black that shows up so readily. I'm wild about the color combinations that you all have chosen....each so individual and each sets off the design in such a unique way. Thanks for sharing!!! The two blocks together to give an idea of how it will work.

Gee, GG, I have a black a lot like yours! Love your reds in the blocks. Have not decided on my second one yet, still looking at all the blacks shared here. Love them all, would claim any of them in a New York minute!

    Default SYE September

Everyone's blocks are turning out just beautiful. Such variety. That's the fun part. I love the blocks but it's so much fun how different everyone's blocks are. Here is mine. Now I'll have to wait for the middle of October to post any more. I'm going on vacation for the first two weeks in October to visit my sister, who is also a quilter and she has a place to take me....day trip.....

My colors don't show up real well, I'm thinking that these efficient light bulbs are bad for pictures. But it's close. Posting both blocks, but I'm not sure how I'll put them together. Wish a sashing between the white area's when I get enough made, but I may off set them, and make some 1/2 blocks.

Ggal, fantastic blocks!! I love the red, black, white and like how the small borders will make a secondary pattern.

KL, your blocks are so soft and pretty--like springtime.
